We are looking for someone to care for and support a happy, energetic, mostly non-verbal 13-year-old girl, diagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder, who loves arts and crafts, long bike rides, and cooking. She’s strong, spirited, and playful, and your role is mostly about play and intentional connection.
You will be working in the family’s North Vancouver home on a week on, week off basis.

Assist with daily living skills and the continued development of personal independence and self-care
Support in emotional regulation and communication
Teach social skills and life skills
Provide structure and routine in a loving and supportive capacity
Implement positive behaviour strategies with kindness and patience
Deal calmly with situations that may involve challenging behavior and stressful circumstances
Work independently and problem solve challenging situations with confidence and grace
Communicate with family effectively
Fluent in English
Experience working with teenage girls who have a diagnosis of ASD
Willing to complete a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
Can commit to a minimum of 1-year
Own vehicle an asset, with clean driving record; reliable transportation a must
Training with the Son-Rise program, or willingness to embark on the training
Please note that this is a week on, week off position. You will have overlap with our current caregiver for a smooth transition.
