Many of our candidates have significant experience, unique qualifications and have included references for your perusal. Some of them also possess a certification of their criminal background to ensure your peace of mind.

You would like to offer your services to seniors in helping them in their daily tasks or simply keep them company? SOSsitter can help you find families and seniors who need your services. We are looking for candidates aged 18 years or older, with all levels of experience and qualifications and who are legally able to work in Canada.

Registration to SOSsitter is free upon completion of your profile. Once you are registered, you can start reviewing jobs posted by our families or receive notifications when a post becomes available in your area.





Selection Process

To help you choose the best candidate, we recommend that you follow the selection process below.


Step 1: Evaluate candidate profiles:

  1. Review profiles of SOSsitter candidates in your area or candidates who have replied to your job offer.
  2. Check their experience, qualifications, skills and reviews made by other families.

Step 2: Conduct a personal or telephone interview, depending on your preference. Here are some examples of questions you should ask in order to identify the best candidate for you and your family.

  1. Experience: Describe (in your own words) your work experience related to this job
  2. Skills: When the candidate indicates specific qualifications, ask where and when he/she has obtained them.
  3. Job preferences:
    • Children: Number of children, age of children, the ability to work with children with special needs.
    • Pets: type of pet, care on site or at home.
    • Help for Seniors: type of tasks they prefer to perform.
  4. Specific skills required for this job or for your needs. Here are some examples:
    • Able to change diapers?
    • Able to prepare simple meals?
    • Able to give medication?

Step 3: Reference and background checks

  1. References: Request details of clients who used their services if unavailable on their profile
  2. Criminal record: Check if Certificate of Criminal Record is available. Otherwise, ask to check criminal background on a website such as myBackCheck.com which provides a background checks within 24 hours.
